Imposter syndrome, relationships, the path of least resistance and overcoming the fear of producing

Published 7 months ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

When I first started this podcast, I added every episode as a new post on my website. It took some time each week to add all of the pieces (buttons and players and video embeds and show notes), but it worked.

Fast forward to episode 35 and I realized I was boxing myself into a corner.

Not only did it take time each week to add all of the pieces, I had to take extra care to replicate the formatting of each episode and if I wanted to change anything globally, I had to go into each post to modify it. 😑

So, last week I spent a few hours changing the structure of the site to not only make future episodes easier to add but also to be able to change the overall design of the podcast episodes globally.

The reason I share this story with you is:

  • However you do something to begin with is okay. Start where you are.
  • Later, you may want or need to take some time to make it work better for you for the long term. That's okay too.

It's a journey. Some of the latest show episodes are about journeys, too. 🙌

Moving past imposter syndrome to create, launch and market your first digital product. Client work and personal obligations can get in the way of creating and launching your digital product, but you can also get in your own way. In this episode, I share some tips about how to move past imposter syndrome including looking for data and putting your blinders on. Watch or listen to episode 33.

Using your digital product as a gateway into a relationship with Kristina Romero. Kristina has created a wide variety of products over the years and has used those products to create ongoing relationships, often with recurring revenue. Watch or listen to episode 34.

Traveling on the path of least resistance to your first digital product. Repeat after me – it doesn't have to be hard. You don't always have to take the hard path. You can take an easier path to your first digital product. Watch or listen to episode 35.

Prototypes and passion projects to overcome the fear of producing with Bridget Willard. Bridget started with a prototype/passion project, an Amazon book, before diving into other Amazon books, a free content planner and her premium product, Launch With Words. Watch or listen to episode 36.

You can also check out all of the episodes on YouTube or in your favorite podcast player.

Thanks for tuning in!

P.S. I have a goal to have 25 market research calls by the end of 2023. If you're creating, launching or marketing a digital product, could we jump on a 15-minute call so I can learn more about you? No sales, no pitches. Learn more and sign up.

Hey Reader, A few months ago I went to the store to buy some new mascara. I've been wearing the same kind for years, but don't need to buy it very often because it lasts me a long time. The salesperson took me over to the section and said, you don't want waterproof mascara (which is what I usually get). You want the regular mascara. So I picked up the regular mascara, checked out and went about life. In the subsequent weeks, I realized why I don't buy regular mascara. I'm a business owner, in...

Hey Reader, Every year my son's high school marching band takes a trip and marches in a parade out of town. The band keeps the kids super busy for the duration of the 5-day trip. The kids went to Disney (Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom) plus Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach at the beginning of March. It's an exhausting (but fun) trip. When he got home, he opened his computer, saw how much work he had to do, immediately got overwhelmed, closed the computer and went to sleep. 😑...
