A real-life tech stack and process for selling digital products

Published 9 months ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

One of my favorite parts of selling digital products is getting all the pieces to work together 😍

I'm helping a client launch her second digital product next month and wanted to share her tech stack and process.

▶️ She has a WordPress website where she's posting new content regularly. The site has a shop page that links to her products.

▶️ Her products live on Shopify. One reason she chose Shopify was for the regular monthly cost instead of paying a percentage of each transaction.

▶️ We recently switched from Zapier to Make to connect Shopify to her email marketing platform. When a customer makes a purchase, they are added to her email list.

▶️ She uses MailerLite for email marketing. She sends a free guide when people join her list, a weekly email (automated with the latest content from her website), sales emails when she launches a new product, follow up emails after someone purchases a product and one-off emails now and again.

And that's it! Four pieces of software.

This is just one of MANY ways to set up your digital product, but the basics include — your website, a place to sell your products and way to communicate with customers and people who haven't bought yet.

Have you launched a product or are considering it? What software do you use and love?

Best,
Rene

P.S. I don't have any YouTube lives scheduled right now, but will be planning one soon. Are there any topics that you'd like me to cover? Reply to this email and let me know!

Hey Reader, A few months ago I went to the store to buy some new mascara. I've been wearing the same kind for years, but don't need to buy it very often because it lasts me a long time. The salesperson took me over to the section and said, you don't want waterproof mascara (which is what I usually get). You want the regular mascara. So I picked up the regular mascara, checked out and went about life. In the subsequent weeks, I realized why I don't buy regular mascara. I'm a business owner, in...

Hey Reader, Every year my son's high school marching band takes a trip and marches in a parade out of town. The band keeps the kids super busy for the duration of the 5-day trip. The kids went to Disney (Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom) plus Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach at the beginning of March. It's an exhausting (but fun) trip. When he got home, he opened his computer, saw how much work he had to do, immediately got overwhelmed, closed the computer and went to sleep. 😑...
